So you’re thinking about purchasing investment real estate in the local market, maybe Oakland, San Leandro, or Hayward.  The great aspect about real estate investing is that the market is very dynamic and long term growth in Bay Area real estate values have been and are strong.

Do you know what area(s) you are interested in?

I’ve lived in the East Bay for 50 years and have strong knowledge of the neighborhoods and rental markets.  Over the years I’ve been active in many of the local East Bay markets as an appraiser, realtor, investor, and property manager.  I’ve learned about the many ways that one can earn a good return in real estate.  Believe me….. it’s not just about being a landlord which not everyone will enjoy.  I own and manage rental property in Oakland but I’ve also rehabbed and resold properties in Berkeley and Oakland which is an entirely different experience.

Consider what your strengths and challenges are in regards to your expertise, time, preferences, and resources.  Are you planning on self-managing your projects or hiring out elements like property management, etc.?  I’m happy to discuss my experiences and knowledge in rehabbing, renting, appraising, and/or selling/buying properties.  I’ve greatly honed my skills in regards to negotiation, financials, demographic trends analysis, price and value equations, property management, educating my clients, fiduciary duties, etc.
